Asia Offshore Wind Energy 
ICA is leading a push to unite wind energy organizations in countries across the Asia region to accelerate the development of off-shore wind energy. Wind agencies in China, Japan, Korea, India & Taiwan are cooperating on the Asia Off-shore Wind Energy Development Forum in April with government & industry to explore ways to remove the barriers of off-shore wind energy development in Asia.

 

China’s Electric Vehicles—Or New Energy Vehicles
According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers China produced a total of 1.27 million new energy vehicles (NEVs) in 2018-over 80% were passenger cars-with yearly growth of 60%. By 2018, China had produced 3 million NEVs in total and it’s expected the country will maintain the 2018 production level for 2019 and 2020 to achieve government’s plan of 5 million accumulative units by 2020.

Asian Heat Pumps
For the 3rd year ICA and Japan Copper Development Association confirmed ongoing commitment to a Heat Pump Promotion plan along the lines of a Japan proposal designed to influence Heat Pump growth across Asia. ICA and JCDA have proposed a broad based workshop to explore developing appropriate fiscal incentive policies by including heat-pump technology as a renewable energy solution.
 

 

Australian Miner’s Global $1M Explorer Challenge
OZ Minerals and energy and resources open innovation platform, Unearthed, are launching the A$1M Explorer Challenge for innovation in finding new copper reserves.

 

Chinese Air-Conditioners
ICA China’s newly launched small diameter copper tube heat exchanger simulation software HXSim v3.0 has already proved highly successful after a couple of months. Chinese air-con ditioner companies including Midea, Hisense and Gree-which applied for 50 licenses for their product development engineers-have all began to use the new version software.

 

Taiwan’s Safer Electricity
ICA and Taiwan’s Cable Wire Association have prepared a government proposal to undertake a residential rewiring program of homes over 30 years old-over half the market-to ensure safe electricity and improved energy efficiency. By targeting mass media and individual electric industry trade shows, ICA and the Cable Association are trying to build effective public policy for low income people and house builders.
